Forum Title: Log Vs Traditional
I have a log home I'm working on. We already built one addition to it and the client wants another. As H/O's do, they want to save money. We used log siding for the previous addition, and it looks very good ( has the log ends and such to match the rest of the house made by the same manufacuer as the original logs. The H/O believes that it will be cheaper to build the new addition with logs rather than stick build with log siding. I have never used logs before, I can do it, but never have. My question is to those that have done it. Is it cheaper, bottom line (material and labor) to use logs? From ever angle I have looked at it, logs seem to be about 30% to 50% MORE (material and labor), plus these new logs will have to be cut to fit into the existing structure, which don't appear to be a real simple task in itself due to the thickness of the logs, siding would be much easier.Any input or advise?
